The Brisbois Motor Inn is named after the famous fur trader, Michel Brisbois, a French-Canadian voyageur who came to Prairie du Chien in 1781 to attend the fur-trading rendezvous held in the spring and fall of each year. Originally Brisbois came to trade furs for the Hudson Bay Trading Company, but ended up making his home in Prairie du Chien where he became a baker. Because of the instability of government currency, Brisbois seized upon an opportunity and his bread soon became a primary currency of exchange within the community. The beaver in the Brisbois Motor Inn logo symbolizes the primary fur trapped during this era. The Brisbois Motor Inn is an established lodging tradition, offering comfort and service in the great Mississippi River Valley. The shower had good pressure.

No curtain in the bathroom and no porch light. Very packed together and very small bed. The price was high for the amount of space.

We liked the outside entrance to the room but felt that it was advertised falsely. The pool is an outside pool and was not open. While the room was clean except for the spider, there was no curtain in the bathroom & the porch light did not work. The TV worked fine but the only place to sit was the bed and watch it. The hotel staff was very friendly and the hotel was clean.

I had booked a smoking room but on arrival was told it was non smoking and had to be moved.

We did know what to expect and were not surprised as this is an older hotel. In spite of its age it was clean and all of our needs were met.

We had lots of laughs ( like when the Ricardo's and Mertzs went on vacation and their cabin shook from the trains going by.)

Pool was dirty and not heated,
TV remote did not work, train tracks right in back, nobody in the lobby when you needed them.

The breakfast was good, but we probably won't go back there. It was too noisy with train going by every hour. The bed was a little on the hard side. The pool area was unkept. But it was cheaper.

Very friendly and helpful staff.

Bathroom facilities while clean were very dated and small.

Overall it was okay and the staff made the largest difference. Normally I would find the price a bit high for the size and quality of the room.
